David Godwin is a dedicated educational professional with over three decades of experience. He earned his bachelor's degree in mathematics from Auburn University and began his teaching career in Escambia County in 1989. A decade later, he moved to Santa Rosa County, where he has taught various mathematics courses. Currently, Mr. Godwin teaches Geometry Honors at Pace High School and has also coached multiple sports, including football, basketball, baseball, and track.
Mr. Godwin holds the esteemed position of president of Santa Rosa Professional Educators, representing his peers. He is a member of the SRPE Executive Board and serves as the chief negotiator for the instructional staff. For the last ten years, he has been advocating for educators at the bargaining table, securing better salaries, benefits, and working conditions, with a focus on enhancing the school environment for both students and staff.
Additionally, Mr. Godwin has contributed to several SRC School Board committees, such as those for insurance, curriculum, evaluation, performance pay, calendar, coaching supplements, textbook selection, and school scheduling.
Married to Suzanne Barberi Godwin for 23 years, who is a teacher at Holley-Navarre Middle School, they have four children, all educated in Santa Rosa County. Outside of his professional and family life, Mr. Godwin enjoys fishing for Redfish in the bays of Santa Rosa County.
